517 Gallery

Open Friday and Saturday 1-5 p.m. and Third Thursdays 1-8 p.m.

517 Gallery operates under the umbrella of the Denison Arts Council, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion, development, and support of the arts in the North Texas area in order to serve the needs of all citizens through participation, exposure, and educational opportunities. 

Doc Holiday Festival

Artist Village and Spoken Word  

In collaboration with the City of Denison the Denison Arts Council  sponsors the Artists Village at the SNAP Center, consisting of Demonstrating artists and a Kids Korner.   Artists will portray a variety of period specific art forms such as Painting, pottery, fabric arts, calligraphy and making musical instruments.  The Kids Korner features activities for children and adults.  

DAC will also sponsor a Spoken Word event, where storytelling and poetry will be presented, often in period costume, of writings and personalities from the 1880-1920 era.   This will be presented in the 517 Gallery.  

North Texas Art Festival

Saturday June 8th 2024 @ 10AM

Denison Arts Council is proud to announce the second annual North Texas Arts Festival on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10 AM to 5 PM in historic Downtown Denison, TX. Juried local, regional, and national artists will display and sell their work alongside local wineries, with beer and food vendors available throughout the venue. Various artist demonstrations will be held, as well as local musicians performing a variety of music throughout the day. This is a family friendly event, open to the public.

North Texas Arts Festival

A collaboration with the City of Denison to provide original art from local artists for the enjoyment of the general public who might not otherwise see our art.    Instillations are rotated throughout the year.

In conjunction with the Main Street Committee sponsored “Twilight Thursdays” the 517 Gallery will host a reception with a featured artist each month. 

November 3rd 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Experience the vibrant magic of Dia de los Muertos!  Denison Arts and Culture District and the City of Denison Tourism Department present the 12th annual Dia de los Muertos Festiva! Join us November 2nd – 4th for a weekend filled with Music, Dance, Puppets, Parades and Beautiful Horses. Saturday November 3 from 10am -5pm/ Festival includes Main Stage entertainment starting at 10:00.  Come watch Folkloric Dancers, Mariachi Bands and Aztec Dancers.   Shop at the Mercado and enjoy fabulous food from vendors from Tacos, BBQ, and Corndogs.! Main Stage Headliners include the CTS Queen of Tejano Tribute Band, the Outstanding DFW Caballos Bailadores Dancing Horses and the Gabby’s Car Show.  Weekend ticketed events include Party with the Puppets on Friday, Saturday evening is the La Catrina Gala and then Sunday El Princesses Brunch! Don’t miss out on these festivities in historic downtown Denison Historic District.
