Memento Vivere
What does “life” mean to you? Fond memories? Flora and fauna? Food, water, and shelter? Memento Vivere (“Remember to Live”) is a celebration of life in all shapes and forms. Amidst the bitter cold of the Winter season, we invite you to share the colors, textures, and impressions of life and nature. We’d like to make our gallery space feel nice and cozy to gently usher in the new year. If you’re an artist, show us what life is all about— and if you’re just looking, take this opportunity to reflect on life and the meaning you find within it. Find shelter from the cold this Winter at 517 Gallery’s Memento Vivere.

Tracks, Trails, & Tall Tales
Adventure awaits! Discover the world from the comfort of downtown Denison this Spring at 517 Gallery. Tracks, Trails, & Tall Tales is an art exhibition all about travel & transport. We invite artists to take us on a journey with artworks that tell tales of foreign cultures and far-away lands. Whether it’s by train, on horseback, or on foot, we want to know where you’ve traveled and how you got there. This show is also an homage to Denison’s history as a railroad town! Trainspotters, auto enthusiasts, and sailors alike are encouraged to share artworks related to any and all kinds of vehicles. Come spin a yarn (or listen to a yarn spun) through beautiful art at 517 Gallery.

Icons & Paragons
We all have heroes. Put yours on a pedestal (or up on the wall) this Summer at 517 Gallery! Whether your hero is a holy figurehead, a brave guardian, or an unwavering activist, they deserve a chance to shine and receive thanks alongside fellow greats. You can give them just that during 517 Gallery’s summer exhibition, Icons & Paragons. Share artworks of those you respect so that others can admire them, too! Come by 517 Gallery this May and relish in awe of those (real and fictional) who inspire the masses and make life and liberty possible.

Small on the Wall
Feeling a little overwhelmed? Tired of lugging around heavy sculptures and huge, cumbersome paintings? Step away from the big picture and focus on the small print this Summer at 517 Gallery. Small on the Wall is exactly what it sounds like: an exhibition of tiny artworks. With no restriction on theme, subject matter, or medium, the world is your oyster! Just make sure the pearl isn’t too big— we’ll only be showing pieces that are 6 inches or smaller in all directions. If you want to explore an exhibition of artworks that can fit in the palm of your hand, Small on the Wall at 517 Gallery is the place to be this Summer. We’ll see you there!

Le Salon des Artistes: Represent Your Culture
The Denison Arts Council is excited to announce the 2nd annual Salon des Artistes at 517 Gallery! Last year, we were fortunate enough to display over 50 stunning artworks by artists from all around Texas and beyond in this Salon-style juried exhibition. This year, we’d like to make Le Salon des Artistes an opportunity to share your culture and heritage. In honor of Denison’s annual Dia de los Muertos festivities, which will take place during the time the show is on display, we invite artists of all backgrounds to show us how they connect with the people and places from which they descend. We want to display artworks that depict beloved recipes, cultural dress, family traditions, and anything else that celebrates where you come from. Honor your culture and heritage through sharing or viewing art at 517 Gallery’s 2nd annual Salon des Artistes this Autumn.

Misfits & Mayhem
As another year of wonderful art exhibitions comes to a close, we’d like to open our doors to the artists and artworks which didn’t quite mesh with the themes of our previous shows. Misfits and Mayhem is an exhibition of… well, anything! This time, there is no theme. We want to show what you want to show! Any size, medium, subject matter, and style is welcome here. This is a great opportunity for emerging artists to test the waters and for established artists to show something they haven’t gotten to show before. Come to 517 Gallery this holiday season to view a vast display of unique artworks and celebrate the beauty of human individuality at Misfits and Mayhem.
